Abandoned Places (Rainbow in the Dark)

When there’s lightning, you know it always brings me down’ Cause it’s free and I see That’s it’s me who’s lost and never found! I cry out for magic, see it dancing in the light, it was cold. Lost my hold to the shadows of the night.

Ronnie James Dio

And it’s all round and round, for the rainbows found in darkness, suddenly he knows all he knows, never bound, a better way of flying, his heart is forgiven, no empty places known, no empty places known.

He brought himself into abandoned places, the emptiness where the self has no control, a razor that cuts, and leaves you brazen to walk in wastelands where daemons of youth are sown. A step with feet that disregard calculation, sudden movements, his limbs numbed and cold, he was so warm but now he’s needing placement, a rainbow’s gone, and quickly he grows cold. He told himself at first he was human, give love unto others, that’s what makes him bold, but unexpectedly there’s no explanation, the lies when you die, you never miss all you sought to know. Empty tombs, some say it’s just a wasteland, some say he learns there, what do they know, either he faces some kind of destination, or eschatology takes your living soul.

And it’s all round and round, for the rainbows found in darkness, suddenly he knows all he knows, never bound, a better way of flying, his heart is forgiven, no empty places known, no empty places known.

Then he falls such a long time, looking for creation, the other side, it’s different then he’s told. This side of the veil, is a place of excavation but over there, you know it’s so he knows, that he’s no longer seeing rainbows in the darkness, no more ghost or shadows of what’s not known, no more mystery of celebration, but then there’s that, at last he’s found a home. At last he’s found a home.

The steps he took into abandoned places, the breathing out, the last of what we know. He could stand silently and question different motives, strengths or emptiness of madness sown. Then there’s queries of what’s in the darkness, minds or witchcrafts of bells that never toll, a rainbow standing in the blazon darkness, the siren waiting, it beckons, then it’s all. He takes his place in empty kinds of places, not fulfilled by everything we know, some say darkness waits unabated, lack of light initiates the call, he knows all the better, nothing placated, he steps on forwarded to the sudden fall, then he fly’s, oh my how he fly’s.

For Phillip Wethington, and all his family and friends who mourn this night, and all the world who has lost that someone who danced the ledge and jumped, they have found the rainbow in the darkness and they are home! – 12-13-2015-
